PCTA Chairman Mr. Ronald Manlapig Attends Innovation Summit 2024 and PIXI Roadshow in Davao City
On November 8, 2024, Mr. Ronald Manlapig, the PCTA Event Chairman, along with the PCTA Technical Engineer, Engr. Michael Pablo Dela Paz, attended the highly anticipated Innovation Summit 2024 at the SMX Convention Center in SM City Lanang Premier, Davao City. The two-day event brought together thought leaders and industry experts from various sectors to discuss the latest technological trends, advancements, and future possibilities. It served as a platform for networking, collaboration, and knowledge sharing among the brightest minds in the innovation space.
During the summit, Mr. Manlapig and Mr. Dela Paz had the opportunity to interact with several innovators, gaining insights into cutting-edge developments in technology, digital transformation, and sustainability. The following day, the PIXI Roadshow took place at The Mills at Lanang Suites, also in Davao City. The roadshow was designed to highlight key developments in the Philippine Internet Exchange (PIXI) and its role in improving the country’s internet infrastructure. The event kicked off with an opening prayer led by Sr. Melvin Manligoyosi, setting the tone for a day of learning and collaboration.

The first session featured an opening address by Mr. Cedric M. Sazon, President of PIXI, who provided attendees with an overview of PIXI's mission and its impact on the local community. He emphasized the organization’s commitment to improving the country’s internet exchange systems and fostering digital growth nationwide.

Following Mr. Sazon’s remarks, Engr. Michael Pablo Dela Paz, PIXI Operations-In-Charge, took the stage to present a detailed discussion on the workings of internet exchanges, the importance of improving connectivity, and how PIXI is working toward enhancing the Philippines' internet infrastructure. The session highlighted the technical aspects of internet exchanges and the essential role they play in creating faster, more reliable, and cost-effective internet services.

A key segment of the roadshow was an informative talk by We Are I.T. CEO, Mr. Joseph Maddatu, represented by Nigel Conejares, We Are I.T. Account Manager. In his talk, he shared valuable insights on their efforts to bring high-speed internet access to remote and underserved areas in the country. The presentation underscored the potential of satellite technology in supporting the country’s ongoing digital transformation.

The event concluded with closing remarks by Dr. Venancio Lo, PIXI Director, who thanked the participants for their engagement and emphasized the importance of continued collaboration between stakeholders in the digital space.
